Cathy has a Master's Degree of Education in Community Counseling from UNC Greensboro and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oklahoma. She has augmented her academic training and licensure by actively pursuing training in alternative modes of healing as well as spiritual psychology. Cathy has enjoyed the privilege and richness of working with UNC Asheville students over the years, particularly in the areas of personal exploration, resolving relational disruptions and family conflicts, and supporting students as they take risks toward living the life they deeply desire. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is a powerful tool to assist students in overcoming personal difficulties and heal from painful experiences. It is also a medium to restore connection in important relationships, replenish hope, expand compassion, transform obstacles, and strengthen Self.
