Dr. McKay got her medical degree from Emory University in Atlanta GA, in Internal Medicine. She moved to the mountains in NC with her family and worked in primary care and Emergency Medicine in Yancey County; the northern border of Buncombe county. And before coming to UNC-Asheville, she was in Boone at App State University student health for several years.
Working with students is always filled with surprises and interesting situations. She loves to untangle complicated, knotty problems and reveal a solution or path forward towards a healthier future. In general, the mountain culture is a great combination of traditional recipes for health and new ideas.
Whenever she can get outside, she will be taking a walk with someone, or a bike ride or paddling a river. Please contact her if you have a dog that needs a walk - she LOVES walking dogs!
